It won’t happen to me…
We naturally try to avoid thinking about mortality, especially our own. We don’t know when it will happen and unfortunately, when it does, it will be too late to do anything about it.
There lies the importance of life and critical illness cover.
In the same way as we don’t want to think about passing away, we don’t tend to think about life changing illnesses, often thinking ‘it won’t happen to me’, yet I’m sure we all know someone that has been critically ill.
If you were to become critically ill, there are policies which would pay out so that your children and family could maintain the same lifestyle as they currently do, in the event that you were not able to work as a result of the illness. If you knew that with a monthly payment and a CI policy you could ensure the life for them which they have become accustomed to, the chances are that you would pay the monthly amount.
And if the worst should then happen?…
One of the most reassuring things you can do is to make sure your loved ones are protected if anything should happen to you. It is difficult enough to cope emotionally at a time of loss without also being faced with financial hardship.
So why is it then that only a fraction of the UK has any type of life or critical illness cover?
It is alarming that people insure their cars, pets and even their gadgets, yet not themselves. (yes, you must insure your car by law, but most people choose a more comprehensive cover than the law requires).
What value do you put on your own life? Are you even able to put a figure on it?
It is within your power, today, to protect those that you love. Most people have the time to work and save money for their families, but even with the best will in the world, if that time is taken away from you, your policy will fill in the gaps and look after your loved ones.
Life insurance isn’t for the dead, it’s for the living, the people you leave behind.
Paying the premium is the solution to a problem that you cannot control.
